Human Resources for Health Initiative for Sub Saharan Africa (2015-2020)
This is 5 year collaborative project implemented by COECSA with funding from Orbis International. The aim of the initiative is to strengthen the quality of eye health education in East and Southern Africa, to graduate increasing numbers of high quality ophthalmologists. The initiative will be implemented in Rwanda, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and Zambia.
The program objectives are:
1. To strengthen the structure of the resident training program at selected training institutions in Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda & Tanzania, in line with the COECSA competency based curriculum.
2. To develop and strengthen five super-specialty training centres in Eastern and Southern Africa to provide continual medical education to ophthalmic professionals in Africa.
