Our Member societies have released statements concerning the COVID – 19 pandemic. The statements are very specific for eye health workers. The virus that causes COVID-19 is very sensitive to the alcohol and bleach disinfectants that ophthalmologists commonly use to disinfect ophthalmic instruments and office furniture. To prevent transmission of COVID-19, the same disinfection practices already used to prevent the spread in the office of other viral pathogens are recommended before and after each meeting with a patient.
Kindly read the statements below from BOS (Burundi Ophthalmological Society), ZOS (Zambia Ophthalmological Society) and OSK (Ophthalmological Society of Kenya).
